JAKARTA, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will travel to the United States (US) to attend the inaugural Board of Peace (BoP) meeting on Feb 19 and sign the Indonesia-US Agreement on Reciprocal Tariffs (ART).

Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed the visit at a press conference on Wednesday.

Media reports said that the BoP meeting, convening for the first time after its founding charter was signed in Davos, Switzerland on Jan 22, is expected to focus on the reconstruction of Gaza, Palestine.

Regarding the ART, Airlangga said the agreement is scheduled to be signed by Prabowo and US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the meeting.

He noted that Indonesia currently faces a 19 per cent import tariff from the US, a reduction from 32 per cent in earlier rounds of talks.

“We have had a reduction (of the tariffs) from 32 to 19, and then there are also other matters awaiting until everything is 100 per cent settled," he said.

The agreement was initially targeted to be signed by the end of January.
