MCDONALD'S US VALUE MEALS BOOST QUARTERLY SALES

12/02/2026 02:55 PM

WASHINGTON, Feb 12 (Bernama-dpa) -- A stronger focus on value meal deals helped McDonald's drive faster United States (US) growth in its fourth quarter, German Press Agency (dpa) reported Wednesday, citing a report by the fast food chain.

Comparable sales in the US rose 6.8 per cent year-on-year, ahead of analysts' average forecast of 5.4 per cent. The prior-year quarter had been weighed down by an E. coli outbreak.

Globally, comparable sales increased 5.7 per cent, beating the 3.9 per cent expected by analysts. Quarterly revenue rose 10 per cent to US$7 billion, while net income climbed 7.0 per cent to US$2.16 billion.

McDonald's and other fast food chains have promoted value meal deals starting at US$5 in the US, a move aimed at customers with lower incomes who have cut back on spending amid high living costs. Chief executive Chris Kempczinski said the company had listened to its customers' needs.
