SINGAPORE, Feb 19 (Bernama) — Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced that construction of the Downtown Line 2 extension (DTL2e) stations, designed to improve rail connectivity in the republic’s north-western region, is set to begin in the second quarter of 2026.

In a statement, LTA said it awarded two civil contracts for the DTL2e works at a combined value of around S$735 million.

The first contract, worth around S$285 million, was awarded to Woh Hup Engineering Pte Ltd, while the second, valued at S$450 million, went to a joint venture between Samwoh Corporation Pte Ltd and China Communications Construction Company Ltd (Singapore Branch).

“When completed, DTL2e will enhance rail connectivity in the north-western region and shorten travel times for commuters travelling between the north and north-western parts of Singapore.”

"We target to complete construction and commence passenger service for DTL2e in 2035," it said.

The DTL2e works comprise three stations. The first, located after Bukit Panjang, will be an underground station along Sungei Kadut Avenue.

The new DTL terminus will be an underground interchange station linked to a new above-ground station between Yew Tee and Kranji stations on the North–South Line (NSL).
