LONDON, Feb 21 (Bernama-PA Media/dpa) -- Carlos Alcaraz is in 11th heaven after he continued his 2026 winning streak to book his place in the Qatar Open final, PA Media/dpa reported.
In beating Andrey Rublev in the Doha semifinal, the Spaniard extended his perfect record for the year to 11 matches. Alcaraz had already won the Australian Open earlier this month.
Alcaraz triumphed 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 against the Russian to put himself one win away from a second title of the year.
He said: “I know what I am able to do every time I step on the court, what I am capable of doing.
“The way that I am approaching every match, I’m just really proud about it. It’s something I am trying to be better at and it’s paying off.
“I’m proud of myself (for) getting better and maturing.
“If you want to find a solution to a problem, you should find it in a calm place.
“It’s something I am working on. When I am playing and getting mad, seeing I’m not at my best, I just get frustrated.
“That is not the place you will find solutions. In these matches, I have been really calm, thinking clearly and being positive. It’s in those places where you can find the solutions to a problem.”
Alcaraz will face Arthur Fils in the final after the Frenchman downed Jannik Sinner’s destroyer Jakub Mensik 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in the other semifinal.
