KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- The Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday that no Malaysian nationals have been affected by the unrest in several states across Mexico following a recent security operation by local authorities.
The ministry, also known as Wisma Putra, said it is closely monitoring the wave of violence occurring in several states in the country including Jalisco, Colima, Michoacan, Nayarit, Guanajuato, and Tamaulipas, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Mexico City.
“The ministry wishes to confirm that, as of the latest reports, no Malaysian nationals have been affected by the unrest.
“Malaysians residing in or travelling to Mexico are advised to remain vigilant, avoid public gatherings, and strictly follow the safety instructions issued by local authorities,” Wisma Putra said in an advisory on Monday.
The ministry also strongly encouraged Malaysians to register their presence via E-Konsular at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my to facilitate timely communication and assistance.
