ISTANBUL, March 11 (Bernama-Anadolu) --  Five people were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes that targeted several areas in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, Anadolu Ajansi reported, quoting the state media.

National News Agency (NNA) said a drone hit a car in Qlaileh municipality in Tyre district, leaving two people dead.

Another Israeli strike killed the mayor of Jouya town in Tyre and a municipal council member.

A Lebanese man was also killed in an Israeli attack on his home in the Kfarjouz roundabout in the city of Nabatieh, the agency said.

The Israeli army mounted several airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, shortly after issuing immediate evacuation orders for residents in areas south of the Litani River.

Israel and the US have continued a joint attack on Iran since Feb. 28, killing more than 1,200 people and injuring over 10,000 others.

The conflict spilled over to Lebanon, with Israel launching deadly airstrikes that have so far killed more than 570 people, injured over 1,400 and displaced thousands since March 2.
