PRABOWO CONTACTS ANWAR, MUSLIM WORLD LEADERS FOR AIDILFITRI, STRENGTHENS BILATERAL AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

JAKARTA, March 23 (Bernama) -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has contacted several world leaders, including Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, in an effort to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance international cooperation.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that, besides Anwar, Prabowo also held telephone conversations with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, according to the Antara News Agency.

“This outreach is part of efforts to maintain close relations and cooperation between countries, especially during the meaningful Hari Raya celebrations,” he said.

He added that phone calls during Hari Raya are not merely an Aidilfitri tradition, but also reflect the strong bonds of brotherhood between Indonesia and other Muslim-majority countries.

Teddy said Prabowo also contacted United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Secretariat said in an official statement on Sunday that Aidilfitri is not merely a celebration, but also serves as a platform for diplomacy, strengthening brotherhood and symbolising Indonesia’s commitment to reinforcing global unity.

It described Prabowo’s phone calls to world leaders during Hari Raya as a bridge of unity that conveys messages of peace, cooperation and hope to the Muslim world.
