INDONESIA’S SOCIAL AFFAIRS MINISTRY CONDUCTS WFH SIMULATION

26/03/2026 12:09 AM

JAKARTA, March 25 (Bernama) -- Indonesia’s Social Affairs Ministry has begun simulating a work-from-home (WFH) arrangement for its civil servants, including plans to implement remote work on a trial basis for one designated day each week.

Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf said the simulations were being conducted in response to a directive from President Prabowo Subianto to explore a flexible working system within government institutions.

“We are currently conducting simulations, but of course we will wait for the provisions that will later be formulated by the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry (PANRB) in accordance with the President’s directive.

“We will adjust, but we have already started simulations under the coordination of the Secretary-General,” he said according to ANTARA News Agency, on Wednesday.

He assured that the implementation of a flexible working system would not disrupt direct services to the public, especially those involving access to social assistance.

Meanwhile, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian said the WFH proposal is expected to be implemented one day per week, although the final decision remains subject to the president’s directive.

He said discussions among relevant ministers had indicated a preference for designating the same day for WFH implementation but declined to elaborate further pending an official announcement.

Indonesia is considering a WFH arrangement to improve efficiency amid rising global fuel prices caused by the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
