SINGAPORE, April 1 (Bernama) -- A World War II bomb found during construction works will be disposed of in a controlled operation by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit on Thursday.
In a statement, Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it had received a report of a war relic discovered at a construction site along Tanah Merah Coast Road.
The SAF EOD team assessed the relic to be a 250-kilogramme World War II aerial bomb that is unsafe to move.
SPF said the disposal will be carried out between 2.30 am and 4.30 am on Thursday and contained within the construction site premises.
"Areas accessible to the public will not be affected.
"The police are working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, Changi Airport Group, SAF, and Singapore Civil Defence Force to ensure that the controlled disposal of the war relic is carried out safely," it said on Wednesday.
