GAZA CITY (Palestine), March 14 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Hamas and Islamic Jihad discussed on Thursday the implementation of a ceasefire agreement, Israeli violations of the deal and developments on the resumption of talks with Israel, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.

The meeting in Qatar brought together the head of Hamas’ leadership council Mohammed Darwish, and the leader of Islamic Jihad Ziyad al-Nakhalah, along with his deputy, Mohammed al-Hindi, according to a statement from Hamas.

It noted that the two Palestinian groups emphasised the need for “full compliance with all ceasefire provisions, particularly concerning Israel’s withdrawal from the Philadelphi Corridor along the Gaza-Egypt border, the opening of border crossings, and the implementation of the humanitarian protocol.”

They also stressed the importance of ensuring the delivery of all essential supplies to Gaza and moving forward with the second phase of the three-phase agreement without conditions.

The statement reaffirmed that “the resistance remains committed to faithfully implementing the ceasefire agreement and is fully prepared to continue its execution.”

Additionally, both delegations condemned Israeli crimes in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank, including the destruction of refugee camps in Jenin and Nur Shams, and the prevention of worshipers from praying at the Ibrahimi Mosque, calling it a serious violation of Islamic religious sites and endowments.

Israel’s nearly 20-year blockade has turned Gaza into the world’s largest prison, leaving 1.5 million of its 2.4 million residents homeless amid deliberate shortages of food, water and medicine after a genocide.

A ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, which took hold in January, has halted Israel’s genocidal onslaught on Gaza, which has killed more than 48,500 victims, mostly women and children, and left the enclave in ruins.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
