MOSCOW, March 14 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that he is in favour of a 30-day ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict, proposed by the United States (US), but added that there will be nuances, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported.

"We agree with the proposal to stop the hostilities," Putin told a press conference after his meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

However, the proposal is accepted only if the ceasefire leads to a long-lasting peace and eliminates the root causes of the Ukraine conflict, the President added.

"We are in favour, but there are nuances. What are they about? First, what are we going to do with this part of land in Kalinino in the Kursk region? What does it mean if we stop the hostilities for 30 days? That all who are there will leave without a fight, that we have to let them leave after they have committed numerous crimes against civilians? Or the Ukrainian leadership gives them an order to surrender their weapons," Putin said.
