KUALA TERENGGANU, March 15 (Bernama) -- Asian cycling champions Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) is aiming to secure at least one podium finish at the Tour de Taiwan, which will take place in Taiwan from March 16 to 20.

Its chief operating officer Nasiruddin Wan Idrus said that the team would field five cyclists, including four import riders, in the five-stage 646.49-kilometre (km) race that will start at Taipei City and end at Liugdui Hakka Cultural Park, Pingtung.

"We will send five riders - Kee Zhe Yie, Metkel Eyob, Vadim Pronskiy, Mathias Bregnhoj and Stefan De Bod - for Taiwan, which will have hilly routes.

"We aim to secure at least a podium finish and collect as many points to retain our Asian champion title this season,” he said when contacted today.

He also shared that the Kuala Terengganu-based team has had to adapt their training programme to the Ramadan month, switching morning training sessions to the night for the safety and health of the cyclists.
