LABUAN, April 26 (Bernama) -- Rowers from the Putrajaya Canoe Association (PCA) stole the show at the Kayak Mini Marathon (7km) of the Labuan International Sea Challenge (LISC) at the Labuan International Sports Complex beach today, winning the men's single, men's double and mixed double categories.
Muhammad Azri Iskandar Muhammad Azrul of PCA won the men’s single event, with Burhanuddin Halim of Team Sabah and Ahmad Shafiq Aiman Ahmad Suhaimi (PCA) finishing second and third respectively.
PCA’s Ahmad Azfaruddin Luqman-Khairul Naim Zainal clinched the men’s kayak double event, with Shahdan Sukarno-Nadzmar Sukarno of Labuan Kayak Association coming in second and Nik Afiq Mazli-Muhamad Adib Kamaruzrizan of PCA finishing third.
Siblings Mohd Harizul Iman Mas Irhan-Mas Durratul Iman Mas Irhan of PCA came in first in the mixed double category, followed by Amru Rayyan-Dayang Syafiah Umaiyah of Team Sabah and Nedzfar Sukarno-Myrza Fasha Hamyruddin of Labuan Kayak Association.
Rowers from Labuan Kayak Association made it a 1-2 finish in the women's double event through Jiana Tosawi-Eliana Zaryna Tosa and Lee Shu Na-Fatra Tosawi respectively while sisters Aimi Ayuna Azwan-Aisyah Farhanah Azwan of Pahang Canoe Association finished third.
A total of 86 participants from Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan, Putrajaya and Brunei took part in all five categories: men’s single, women’s single, men’s double, women’s double and mixed double.
The race, flagged off by former Senator Datuk Bashir Alias, is part of the LISC, which aims to promote sporting excellence and camaraderie across the region.
