LABUAN, May 7 (Bernama) -- Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa has emphasised that exchanging ideas at the Innovation Strategy Dialogue in the Milano Innovation District (MIND) is an opportunity to improve urban development strategies in the Federal Territories.
“Our participation in this dialogue brings together urban development experts from various countries.
“It is an essential platform for reviewing approaches, strategies, and innovations in building cities that are not only visually appealing but truly meaningful for residents,” she said in her brief statement to Bernama tonight.
Dr Zaliha noted that several countries prioritise community well-being in urban planning, measuring success not just by physical infrastructure but by fostering a sense of togetherness, ensuring mental and physical well-being, and enhancing overall quality of life.
“This aligns with our goals in the Federal Territories, where we focus on human-centred development.
“Our C.H.A.S.E City concept promotes balanced growth, viewing cities as spaces for sustainable, inclusive living, not just economic drivers,” she said.
She also said that while the Federal Territories have implemented various initiatives reflecting these values, there is always room for improvement.
“Exchanging ideas at forums like this is crucial. It allows us to learn from the experiences of other countries while also sharing our best practices on an international stage for the benefit of our people and the future of our cities,” Dr Zaliha added.
The minister is currently in Milan to participate in the Innovation Strategic Dialogue, organised by the Alliance for Urban Innovation under the World Economic Forum.
On Jan 1, Dr Zaliha said that C.H.A.S.E City is her vision to transform all three Federal Territories into Clean, Healthy, Advanced, Safe and Eco-Friendly cities.
