KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 (Bernama) -- The 2025 Sun Life Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races will return to Victoria Harbour from June 7 to 8, marking the highlight of this year’s Dragon Boat Festival celebrations.
Organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association, the event will feature over 190 teams from 12 countries and regions, including debut participants from Qatar and Egypt.
HKTB, in a statement said the festivities aim to celebrate the city’s cultural heritage while promoting Hong Kong as a vibrant travel destination.
The Tsim Sha Tsui East Promenade will be transformed into a festive hub, offering free entry and shaded viewing areas for spectators. Visitors can also enjoy performances, food stalls, and family-friendly activities along the Avenue of Stars beginning May 31.
The Dragon Boat Festival, recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Humanity, coincides with the inaugural Hong Kong ICH Month in June.
During this period, highlight tours will offer insights into traditional craftsmanship, including bamboo steamer-making.
