IPOH, March 14 (Bernama) -- The Perak branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) seized 16,380 litres of diesel from a sand mining operation in Pantai Remis for exceeding the permitted storage limit early yesterday morning.
Perak KPDN director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said the raid followed a week-long intelligence operation on a diesel wholesaler in the area.
“Authorities tracked a tanker lorry to the site and discovered the excess fuel stored in a skid tank and the lorry itself, with the total seizure valued at RM192,208. While the company had a valid permit, it was only authorised to store 15,000 litres of diesel,” he said in a statement today.
The seizure was carried out by Manjung KPDN officers and enforcement personnel after the company failed to comply with storage location regulations as stipulated in its permit.
The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974. If convicted, individuals could face fines of up to RM3 million or five years in prison, while corporations could be fined up to RM5 million.
Kamaluddin said Perak KPDN remains committed to strict enforcement and will take swift action against syndicates involved in the misappropriation of controlled goods in the interest of the public.
“The diesel supplier that sold fuel to this company will also be investigated under Section 14 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961,” he added.
