KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- The government is digitalising the Syariah court system via the E-Syariah platform to enhance transparency, efficiency and user-friendliness, especially in protecting the rights of women and children.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said key initiatives include the e-Syariah mobile application and the e-Nafkah module.
He said the e-Syariah app, available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei AppGallery, allows the public to register and track the status of cases involving alimony, divorce, child custody and matrimonial property without having to go to court.
“In addition, the e-Nafkah module provides a systematic platform to monitor the management of family alimony cases, ensuring that court orders are enforced. This covers checking payment status, collections and the execution of alimony orders,” he said during the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today.
He was replying to Syahredzan Johan (PH-Bangi), who asked about government efforts to improve women’s access to justice in family-related cases, including the digitalisation of Syariah courts, modernisation of legal procedures and other initiatives to strengthen the protection of women’s rights and interests.
Zulkifli said the government has also introduced Self Pre-Registration of Syariah Cases, or DIY e-Filing, as well as the use of remote communication technology under the Syariah Court Civil Procedure Rules, enabling parties to attend hearings without being physically present in court.
“These measures are in line with the MADANI Government’s aspiration to strengthen the Syariah justice system so that it is more transparent, user-friendly and effective, particularly in protecting the rights and interests of women and children,” he said.
