MELAKA, Dec 18 (Bernama) -- Five supermarket chains, comprising ten premises in Melaka, are now running the MADANI Back-to-School Rahmah Sales (PJRM) from today until Dec 28.
The participating outlets are Mydin MITC, Mydin Wholesale Hypermarket Bandar Jasin Bestari, Ten Ten Duyong, Ten Ten Taman Debunga Merlimau, Ten Ten Bukit Baru, Ten Ten Sungai Udang, AEON Ayer Keroh, Lotus's Peringgit, Pusat Pakaian Hari-Hari Bandar Satelit Pulau Sebang, and Pusat Pakaian Hari-Hari Masjid Tanah.
State executive councillor for Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs, Allex Seah Shoo Chin, said discounts of 20 to 30 percent are being offered on school uniforms, shoes, socks, bags, and stationery.
"The Back-to-School Rahmah Sales aim to assist parents, especially those in the B40 group, in reducing the cost of purchasing school necessities.
"Although the items are cheaper, quality remains a priority to ensure value for money," he told reporters after launching the programme for the 2026 School Session here today.
Also present were the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) state director, Dr Mohd Hazimin Jamaludin, and chief enforcement officer, Rohaimi Mohammed Zawawi.
Meanwhile, Seah noted that 1,150 Rahmah Sales programmes have been conducted in Melaka, benefitting at least 999,470 people between Jan 1 and Dec 14 this year.
He explained that the programme offers essential goods and staples at 10 to 30 percent below market price through multiple formats, including Mobile, Premises-Based, Festive Season, Market (PJRM @Pasar), and Campus (PJRM @Kampus) Rahmah Sales.
"This strong turnout demonstrates the positive impact of the Rahmah Sales on the community. The MADANI government is firmly committed to helping the public manage the rising cost of living.
"Next year, the state government plans to increase the number of Rahmah Sales events to extend these benefits to even more people," he said.
