ALOR SETAR, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- A 16-year-old boy was found drowned while bathing with his friends at the Lubuk Kawah Recreational Forest in Yan today.
A spokesman for the Kedah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said in a statement that they received information regarding the incident at 6.18 pm before arriving at the scene about 20 minutes later.
"A team of personnel from the Yan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was deployed to the scene and upon arrival was informed that a teenage boy had drowned in the waterfall area while bathing with his friends.
"A surface search operation was carried out, with firefighters also wading through the river water in the waterfall area to search for the victim. The victim was later found at 8.40 pm, about 500 metres from the location where he was reported to have fallen,” the spokesman said in a statement tonight.
He added that the victim was confirmed dead by a medical officer from the Ministry of Health before the victim's body was handed over to the police for further action.
