KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) – Police have confirmed that the son-in-law of a former prime minister, who is wanted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to face criminal breach of trust charges, is currently abroad.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said an arrest warrant has been issued for the man, who is also a businessman, but further action requires cooperation from the authorities of the country where he is believed to be residing.

“Insya-Allah, we will do our best to resolve this matter. So far, we have not received any information from Interpol. Perhaps the MACC can provide further clarification on the issue,” he told reporters after observing preparations and a ‘dry run’ in conjunction with the 47th ASEAN Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.

Also present were Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus, and Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) Deputy Director of Operations Datuk Fisol Salleh.

Earlier today, it was reported that the businessman, who fled more than two years ago, is believed to be living a lavish lifestyle in a West Asian country.

According to the report, several photographs shared with a local newspaper showed him mingling with several West Asian dignitaries.
