KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- World mixed doubles champions Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei fulfilled their prediction to advance to the quarter-finals of the French Open after defeating Taiwanese pair Ye Hong Wei-Nicole Chan today.
In the action held at Glaz Arena, Cesson-Sevigne, the fourth seeds of the tournament, were not given an easy path when they had to play three sets before winning 22-20, 17-21, 22-20 in 72 minutes.
Tang Jie-Ee Wei will meet the Hong Kong pair Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet to chase a slot in the semi-finals.
Also advancing was another national mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie who easily defeated the Scottish pair Alexander Dunn-Julie Macpherson 21-13, 21-10 in 27 minutes.
However, a tough task awaits the husband and wife pair when they will meet the tournament's second seeds Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping in the quarter-finals tomorrow.
