JELI, Oct 30 (Bernama) -- Police are ready to cooperate with Thai authorities to track down a group of robbers involved in a gold shop heist at a shopping centre in Sungai Golok, Thailand, on Oct 5.
Kelantan police chief, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, said so far, no official request for assistance has been received to trace the suspects who are believed to have fled into Malaysia.
“At this point, we have not received any information or request for help to locate the suspects. However, we are always prepared to assist Thai police if needed,” he said.
He said Thai authorities may share further information, including personal details and photos of the suspects, to help facilitate tracking efforts.
Earlier today, Bernama reported that seven out of 10 suspects involved in the Sungai Golok gold shop robbery are believed to have escaped into Malaysia, while three others were arrested at separate locations in Sungai Padi, Narathiwat, on Oct 15.
Meanwhile, on preparations for the Northeast Monsoon, Mohd Yusoff said the state police are on high alert and have improved readiness measures based on lessons learned from last year’s floods.
He said police will add three helicopter landing zones, including one at the Lubok Stol Police Station in Pasir Mas, to ensure food and medical aid can reach isolated areas if severe flooding occurs.
