POLICE NAB 23-YEAR-OLD IN KLUANG SUSPECTED OF ONLINE FRAUD

KLUANG, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being involved in online fraud activities during a raid on a residential premises here on Tuesday.

Kluang police chief, ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh, said the arrest was made by a team from the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) and Kluang District Commercial Crime Investigation Division.

"Thirty mobile phones; cash amounting to RM82,571; 12 Touch 'n Go e-wallet cards; one gold chain; five gold bars; and one money-counting machine were seized, all valued at approximately RM200,000.  

"Initial investigations found that the suspect had withdrawn the proceeds of fraud from ATMs using Touch 'n Go debit cards. The case is being investigated under Section 424A/420 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement today.

He added that investigations are still in progress to determine how long the suspect has been carrying out these activities and whether they were conducted alone or as part of a group.
