MARAN, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- Police have arrested six men from the ‘Geng Bhai’ gang, believed to be involved in a series of cargo robberies and vehicle thefts in Pahang, involving losses estimated at RM659,000 since October.
Pahang deputy police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said the arrests were made under Op Kargo, launched by the Pahang Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) following two cases involving the robbery of trailer lorries carrying iron and PVC cables, as well as five cases of trailer lorry, forklift, and car theft.
“Between Nov 21 and 29, police conducted a series of raids in Senawang (Negeri Sembilan), Klang (Selangor), and Bentong, resulting in the arrest of six men aged between 24 and 56, all of whom with criminal and drug records,” he told a press conference here today.
He said the operation also led to the seizure of four trailer lorries, a lorry, two cars, 10 drums of PVC cable, and three iron and cable cutting tools.
The modus operandi of the gang was to target loaded trailer lorries parked by the roadside, tie up the drivers, move them to another location, and release them only after ensuring the stolen vehicles could not be tracked, he said.
“They also stole loaded and empty trailer lorries and vehicles abandoned in secluded areas. A forklift stolen in Temerloh was found to be used to unload stolen goods at a rented premises in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
Azry Akmar said investigations revealed that the group was led by a 56-year-old man with an extensive history in cargo crime and who is currently on parole in Bentong until March 2026.
“The gang members are believed to have become acquainted while serving previous prison sentences,” he added.
Police are tracking down three other men believed to be linked to the group. They are Kishan Singh Kretar Singh, 41, from Rawang, Selangor; Muhammad Farhan Subri, 23, from Bedong, Kedah; and a man known only as Raja.
Members of the public with information on their whereabouts are urged to contact the police.
