THREE REMANDED OVER ALLEGED RM40,000 FALSE CLAIMS

07/01/2026 03:00 PM

LABUAN, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- The Magistrate’s Court here today issued a five-day remand order against two civil servants and a contractor to assist investigations into an alleged false claims case involving the supply of detainees’ food.

Magistrate Dr Melissa Chia allowed the remand application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) from today until Jan 11 under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

The three individuals are being investigated over the suspected submission and verification of false claims amounting to about RM40,000, believed to have occurred between April and July 2025.

The contractor is suspected of submitting false invoices related to the supply of food, while the two civil servants, who are attached to finance-related duties, are believed to have abetted the offence by certifying the claims in exchange for cash inducements.

All three suspects were arrested separately in Labuan yesterday.
