164 TAMAN IDAMAN RESIDENTS IN KLUANG OVERJOYED, THANKFUL TO JOHOR GOVT FOR RESOLVING LAND TITLE ISSUE

KLUANG, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- A total of 164 Taman Idaman residents here, breathed a sigh of relief when the residential land they have lived in for over 20 years finally became their property.

Chairman of the Housing and Local Government committee Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said it was a result of the Johor state government's success in resolving the land ownership issue after the establishment of a task force through an initiative by the Kluang District Office.

"Finally, this matter is completed and those who pay Notice 5A (Offer Letter of Land Ownership) get ownership rights. With this grant, the value of the house will increase and they can hand it down to their children, or can sell it or so on," he said after the handover ceremony here today.

The transfer of ownership was completed by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi during the Mahkota People Convoy Tour held in the village.

Mohd Jafni said the issue of ownership of land rights also occurred in several other areas in Johor involving elderly residents and the state government was solving it in stages.

Meanwhile, retired civil servant Nastani Dimin, 73, thanked the state government for resolving the ownership issue because the house he lives in is located in a strategic and comfortable location.

"Our house is strategically in the middle of the city, there is also a police station and a mosque. I bought it from a developer and there was a big grant and only now I can transfer ownership.

"The price of a corner lot used to be RM69,000 for a low-medium cost house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms," said Nastani who retired in 2007.

Retired teacher Aminah@Sapiah Mohd Yusof, 78, expressed her gratitude that the problem of land ownership for the past 20 years has finally been resolved.

"I'm overjoyed that it is finally our property. Thank you very much to the Johor state government," she said.
