MYPCVE, PROACTIVE STEP TO COUNTER VIOLENT EXTREMISM - MMEA DG

01/10/2024 11:16 AM

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 1 (Bernama) — The Malaysia Action Plan on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (MyPCVE), launched yesterday, represents a proactive step by the government to counter violent extremism activities both domestically and abroad.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director-general, Admiral Datuk Mohd Rosli Abdullah, stated that the plan will be executed from this year until 2028 to facilitate the Unity Government in maintaining peace and order in the country.

“MMEA fully supports the government's efforts through the Ministry of Home Affairs in introducing MyPCVE.

“This is a crucial initiative to ensure national security and stability,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Rosli emphasised that while the MMEA is primarily tasked with safeguarding the nation’s waters, the agency is always ready to monitor and respond to incursions by elements that could pose security threats, including extremist and terrorist activities.

MyPCVE, launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is based on four pillars: prevention, enforcement, rehabilitation, and strengthening.

It was developed to address the threat of extremist ideologies and violence in a holistic manner, encompassing political, racial, social, religious extremism, and external elements.
