MQSS A PLATFORM TO NURTURE QURAN-LITERATE GENERATION

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- The organisation of the national-level Mahrajan Al-Quran Sekolah-Sekolah (MQSS) 2024 is one of the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) initiatives to produce a Quran-literate generation in the country.

Its Islamic Education Division director Omar Salleh said that MQSS is one of the ministry’s dakwah programmes aimed at fostering personal development, creating well-rounded individuals, and enhancing Quranic skills and the teachings of Islam in education.

He said that the skills showcased in MQSS, such as Quranic culture and moral values, are not meant to be competitive or focused on finding a champion, instead, they should be integrated into daily life, especially to strengthen character and ethics.

"It also serves as a platform for educators and students to share knowledge, enhance their Quranic reading skills, and appreciate the sacred verses of the Quran. We hope that more children will continue the legacy of the Quranic generation," he said in a statement today.

Omar, who was representing Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, closed the MQSS programme at Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Gopeng in Perak on Monday.

He said the 'Adab Dan Nilai Menjana Karamah Insaniah' theme aligned with the MOE’s consistent emphasis on the importance of moral values and ethics.

The Negeri Sembilan contingent dominated the three main awards at MQSS 2024, winning Overall Champion for Primary Schools, Overall Champion for Secondary Schools, and the National MQSS 2024 Overall Champion.
