SEREMBAN, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- The community in Negeri Sembilan needs to optimally utilise the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) to enhance skills in various fields, thereby becoming a proactive and innovative community.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has provided 62 NADI that offer various facilities for the use of the people in this state.

According to him, the commitment and efforts of the MCMC together with other government agencies serve as a catalyst in transforming this state into a smart state capable of producing high-quality human capital.

As a platform to empower communities through digital innovation, NADI has now become a catalyst for the digital transformation of society.

"Apart from providing Internet access in areas where coverage was previously limited, NADi also opens opportunities for the community to delve into new technologies, enhance skills and drive the local socioeconomic development,” he said when speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Sikamat NADI here today.

Also present at the event were Negeri Sembilan State Secretary Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim, MCMC chief state affairs officer Bukhari Yahya, MCMC Southern Region senior director Mohamad Rizal Ahmad and MCMC Negeri Sembilan director Md Tahir Musa.

Aminuddin said smart services offered at NADI not only provide extensive Internet access but also give the community space to interact, obtain the latest information, and hone their potential in various fields such as entrepreneurship using the latest technology.

"For example, NADI in this state has successfully guided more than 200 entrepreneurs through the smart service programme since it was introduced in July," he said.

Aminuddin said there are 11 new NADI centres being developed, with four of them already operational in Sikamat, Bukit Kepayang, Mambau and Ampangan, while those in Johol, Pilah, Seri Menanti, Rahang, Temiang, Seremban Jaya, and Chuah are expected to be fully completed before the end of this year.

Meanwhile, he also acknowledged 45 Malaysian ICT Volunteers (MIV) at the state level who have carried out various volunteer activities to empower the community's digital literacy over the past three months.

Meanwhile, Nur Shazmin Ramli, an English teacher at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Warisan Puteri, said the programme content at NADI, such as STEM eKelas and Microbit classes, can help students enhance their knowledge and skills related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) that can be utilised in schools.

Nur Shazmin, who is also a teacher of Design and Technology (RBT), expressed his happiness because additional AI-related programmes are also provided at the centre, thereby helping rural students master technology.

"This Microbit programme is included in the RBT syllabus for Stage Two students, starting as early as Year Four.  Through this programme, students are taught the basics of coding, which serves as a platform for learning robotics in Year Six," he said.

“At school, the Microbit sets are insufficient and students need to share. With the facilities provided at NADI, students can come here to practice using the Microbit," he also said.

For retired civil servant Mat So'od Mohammad, 65, the Sikamat NADI not only provides Internet services but also allows the elderly and local residents to undergo health checks such as for hypertension and diabetes before being referred to nearby clinics or hospitals.
