KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation (MPOGCF) has contributed RM49,350 to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC), in Sepilok, Sabah, to support its efforts in protecting the endangered Bornean sun bear.
In a statement, MPOGCF said that the rehabilitation and release programme, implemented by BSBCC, serves as a sustainable and high-impact conservation model.
The donation was presented by the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) deputy secretary-general (Strategic Planning and Management), who is also a member of the MPOGCF Board of Trustees, Datuk Abdul Hadi Omar, to BSBCC founder and chief executive officer Dr Wong Swie Te during MPOGCF’s official visit to the conservation centre on Feb 17.
The visit was also attended by key officials, including KPK deputy secretary-general (Plantation and Commodities) Datuk Razali Mohamad; Malaysian Cocoa Board director-general Datuk Dr Ramle Kasin; and members of the MPOGCF Board of Trustees.
MPOGCF, representing Malaysia’s palm oil industry players, reaffirmed its commitment to conservation, highlighting the industry's role in safeguarding the nation’s ecological treasures.
“This sends a strong message to the world that, apart from economic gains, Malaysia’s palm oil industry remains dedicated to preserving the environment and protecting biodiversity,” the statement read.
