TUARAN, March 1 (Bernama) — The Tamu Desa Pekan Tenghilan, valued at RM200,000, was fully completed in September last year and has begun operations, thus making it the 93rd Tamu Desa in Sabah and Sarawak.
Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick said the Tamu Desa project was part of the initiative under the country’s Look East Policy implemented under the ministry which gave additional focus on the two states without compromising the ministry’s broader initiatives across the country.
"Starting last year, the Madani government allocated funding under Budget 2024 to begin the construction of Tamu Desa premises,” he said when opening the Tamu Desa Pekan Tenghilan, here today.
Apart from that, he said, the ministry also introduced the Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Enhancement Program (BEEP PLUS), which is a special grant for Sabah and Sarawak Bumiputera entrepreneurs.
"Last year, the ministry channelled funding to 113 companies in Sabah and 50 Bumiputera companies in Sarawak involving grants worth more than RM13 million.
“This is part of the demands of the people of Sabah and Sarawak, especially the entrepreneurs that KUSKOP provides," he added.
