20/03/2025 08:43 PM

MIRI, March 20 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) will continue to prioritise road safety during enforcement operations in Ramadan.

Its director. Norizan Jili said that enforcement activities will continue as usual and intensify as the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations approach due to increased vehicle movement compared to normal days.

"The operations conducted are not meant to find faults with road users, but rather to ensure that traffic regulations are consistently adhered to for their safety," he said in a statement today.

He stressed the need to follow road rules to prevent accidents, especially during Ramadan and the upcoming Aidilfitri festivities.

"We do not want anyone to lose their loved ones due to road accidents during Ramadan, especially as Aidilfitri approaches. The RTD is always working to ensure that Sarawak's roads remain safe for all," he added.

In a related development, the Sarawak RTD received a visit from the department's deputy director-general (Operations), Datuk Jazmanie Shafawi, who came to support enforcement personnel during an operation in Miri on Wednesday (March 19).
