MELAKA, March 22 (Bernama) -- Kampung Chinchin in Jasin will be registered as a new homestay cluster in Melaka, bringing the total number of registered homestay clusters in the state to 10 this year.
Chairman of the Melaka Homestay and Kampungstay Owners Association Datuk Akramuddin Abd Aziz said the new homestay cluster would provide more choices for tourists, especially from abroad, in conjunction with Melaka's selection as the host of the World Tourism Day (WTD) and World Tourism Conference (WTC) 2025.
He said that so far there are nine homestays registered in Melaka with more than 300 rooms involving various themes or different village atmosphere experiences for tourists.
"Among the requirements to register as a homestay cluster is that there must be at least 15 houses in each homestay area, with inspections and assessments to be carried out on the homestays in several aspects.
"In Kampung Chinchin, there are various interesting attractions such as leisure destinations, tourism, heritage and history that can be introduced to tourists who stay overnight at the homestay," he told reporters here today.
He said this after the Riang Ria Hari Raya Programme involving the purchase of raya clothes for 47 orphans, asnaf and senior citizens from Telok Mas state constituency.
Elaborating further, Akramuddin said that among the homestay clusters that have been registered are Ayer Limau, Ayer Paabas, Alai, Seri Tanjung, Kampung Morten and Paya Dalam.
Meanwhile, he said that various interesting packages will be created, especially involving the introduction of various traditional games of the local community to attract foreign tourists to the homestay cluster in conjunction with WTD and WTC 2025.
Earlier, he said the Raya clothing purchase programme for orphans, asnaf and senior citizens which is now in its 15th year continues to be a platform to help ease the financial burden of recipients in buying new clothes.
"This programme has been successfully continued for a long time because we receive contributions from various parties every year to ensure that these needy groups are not marginalised and that they get a little joy in celebrating Hari Raya.
"Each recipient is given an allocation of RM200 to choose their own new clothes or buy other essential items," he said.
