MELAKA, March 20 (Bernama) -- The number of Ujian Penilaian Kelas KAFA (UPKK) 2024 candidates in Melaka who scored 9A has dropped to 1,474, compared to 1,700 in 2023.

State Education, Higher Education, and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman said however that the state average grade (GPN) increased to 1.68, up from 1.71 the previous year.

He noted that based on the latest GPN results, Melaka has maintained a 100 percent pass rate for 13 consecutive years.

"Last year, 8,109 students from primary religious schools and government-assisted primary religious schools under the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM), and private Islamic education institutions registered as UPKK candidates in Melaka.

"However, only 8,059 candidates sat for the examination, with the rest unable to attend due to various reasons," he told reporters after the announcement of the results, which was also attended by JAIM director Datuk Md Azhan Samat today.

In terms of subject performance, Amali Solat and Penghayatan Cara Hidup Islam maintained a 100 percent pass rate.

The following are the percentage pass rates for other subjects: Al-Quran (99.95), Jawi and Khat (93.13), Sirah (91.05), Adab (92.41), Bahasa Arab (86.29), Akidah (97.57), and Ibadah (93.26).

Meanwhile, 43 outstanding UPKK students in the state will be awarded RM150 in cash and a certificate, as approved in the recent meeting of the Melaka Religious School Examination Committee.

"The top-performing male and female students will each receive an RM500 excellence incentive and a certificate," he said.

"Four schools with the best overall performance will also be awarded RM1,000 and certificates" he added.
