MECHANIC RECEIVES TIMELY AIDILFITRI JOY OF RU'RUSA HOME

25/03/2025 09:00 PM

PEKAN, March 25 (Bernama) -- No words can describe the joy of Mohd Redzuan Abdul Razak, 50, and his family when their dream of owning their own home became a reality today after having to live with relatives for nearly 20 years.

Considering it the most valuable and special gift, especially with just a few days before Muslims celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri, this father of two feels very grateful that this year's celebration can be held comfortably in his own home.

Selected as one of the recipients of the Rumah Rakyat Al-Sultan Abdullah (Ru'Rusa), Mohd Redzuan admits that with an income as a mechanic that does not even touch RM1,000 a month, he cannot afford to rent a comfortable house for his family, forcing them to move five times over 18 years.

“I am very grateful to be chosen as a recipient of a new Ru’RASA house. My efforts to get a comfortable home for my family had been very hard…I applied to various low-cost homes but was unsuccessful.

“Alhamdulillah, after two years of applying for the Ru’RASA project, I have finally succeeded in owning my own house which is built on my mother's land in Kampung Ganchong Tengah. Thank you to the Sultan of Pahang (Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah) who is concerned about our fate. This year's Aidilfitri celebration will be more meaningful," he said.

Mohd Redzuan, who was met after the Ru'RASA home key handover ceremony, said that his RM75,000 single-storey house would be well taken care of. He even plans to expand his first ‘palace’ when he has the means in the future.

"Owning a home has been so difficult, so my family and I truly appreciate this, especially since we got it for free. I also plan to open a small workshop behind the house," he also said.

Mohd Redzuan is one of the 15 recipients of Ru'RASA housing project in the Pekan district who was selected to receive a house for free, with the project having two designs.

The house key handover ceremony, officiated by the Sultan of Pahang, saw 15 recipients from various villages in the Pekan district receiving their keys. Also present at the event was the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

The Ru’RASA homes that were built are the result of the initiative by the Sultan of Pahang in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed Zayed Al Nahyan.

Meanwhile, Al-Sultan Abdullah hopes that those who receive the gifts will be able to help reduce the burden they bear in the days to come, adding that the Ru’RASA project does not have a specific construction quota, and the number of projects depends on the allocation received.

"The allocation of Ru’RASA mostly comes from the UAE, I just facilitate, act as an intermediary,” the Sultan of Pahang added.
