KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 (Bernama) -- Maxis, a leading telecommunications provider in Malaysia, has embraced the festive spirit of Ramadan and Aidilfitri by expanding its community outreach programmes and distributing contributions to those in need.

In a statement today, Maxis said one of the main initiatives was an Iftar event that it hosted on Monday to fete orphans and asnaf individuals (tithe recipients) at Badan Amal Nur Zaharah (BANZ) centre in Bentong, Pahang.

“Maxis provided essential furniture and bedding, distributed gift vouchers, and led a gotong-royong effort to refresh the centre’s facilities and communal spaces.

“…the gathering brought together 70 attendees, including Bentong Member of Parliament, Young Syefura Othman, orphans and underprivileged children, the BANZ employees, and Maxis volunteers. The evening concluded with iftar and Tarawih prayers,” read the statement.

Maxis chief corporate affairs officer Mariam Bevi Batcha said the company aims to create meaningful connections and uplift the communities it serves.

“These moments remind us that festive celebrations are more than just tradition—they bring people together and foster a true sense of belonging,” she said.

In the statement, Young Syefura said such initiatives by corporate bodies positively strengthen bonds and provide essential support to the local community.

“During the festive season, it is essential for us to give back to those in need… I hope more companies will participate in programmes like this,” she added.

Meanwhile, as part of its Ramadan outreach, Hotlink held the Bubur Lambuk Hotlink Campus Tour in collaboration with game publisher Honor of Kings, bringing warmth to students and local communities.

“Supported by volunteers from Maxis and participating institutions, 11,000 servings of bubur lambuk were distributed among universities and polytechnics in the Central, Southern, and East Coast regions of Malaysia from March 11 to 20,” said the statement.

Maxis also presented “Saat Bermakna,” a heartwarming festive film celebrating the importance of staying connected with loved ones, in conjunction with Aidilfitri.
