KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 (Bernama) -- A total of 160 Bureaucratic Red-Tape Reform (RKB) projects or processes, aimed at improving government efficiency to boost productivity and competitiveness, simplify business arrangements and raise people’s welfare, have been implemented so far.
Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the successes recorded from middle of last year till this month proved that the civil service was capable of providing the best service to the public.
This year, 200 work processes are targetted for improvement and for reduction of bureaucratic red tape, he added.
“The successes include the development process of Kulim Municipal Council in Kedah, which saw a reduction from 23 months to 11 months.
“We will conduct more initiatives to reduce bureaucratic red tape and we aim to shorten 200 work process this year,” he said during the webcast of Bicarawara Suara Anak MADANI 2025: Episod Raya, recorded during the MADANI Open House in Damansara, Petaling Jaya here tonight.
Shamsul Azri noted that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim truly believed in the civil service and government machinery to implement policies that are introduced, and therefore, he expressed hope that all civil servants would raise and improve the service, work quality and performance so that the civil service reforms would be a success.
The webcast was part of a programme organised by the office of the Prime Minister’s senior political secretary, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin and Yayasan Pusat Polisi dan Hal Ehwal Ekonomi Malaysia (Yayasan PEACE).
In addition to Shamsul Azri, the session also included National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) deputy director-general Datuk Dr Abdul Gapar Abu Bakar, and Shamsul Iskandar as moderator.
