BUTTERWORTH, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- Recipients of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) who have started enjoying the BUDI MADANI RON95 initiative have praised the government's efforts in fulfilling its promise by providing subsidy for the purchase of petrol at RM1.99 per litre.
Nur Fatini Mohd Addnan, 24, said that although some see the reduction as just a small amount, it means a lot to those who really need it.
“For me, RM1.99 per litre of petrol is very cheap because it has reduced by six sen compared to the previous price of RM2.05.
“This subsidy allows me to save and reduce the burden in terms of purchasing petrol to commute to work,” she said when met at a petrol station on Jalan Raja Uda here, today.
Nur Fatini, who works in a factory in Perai, said that she usually fills up with RM50 and can last two to three weeks to commute to work from her home in Sungai Puyu, thus considering the limit of 300 litres per month to be sufficient.
In addition, she also praised the payment transaction system that is not complicated and is convenient for users.
She said that although it is a bit clumsy at the initial stage, it is easy to understand, as there are employees at the petrol station who are ready to help if there are difficulties, and there is also an information counter to provide explanations on the initiative.
A similar view was also expressed by N. Nageswari, 51, who thanked the government for appreciating and prioritising the B40 group in every implementation of initiatives to help the people.
Nageswari who works as an e-hailing driver, is also relieved to be eligible to enjoy petrol at a lower price.
“I am very grateful to the government for giving the people the opportunity to enjoy low fuel prices,” she said.
Ang Chean Leong, 63, from Jalan Raja Uda, said the subsidy was seen as timely in a situation where the people are in dire need.
“We know that the cost of living is getting higher now so the subsidy of RM1.99 per litre is really helping the people, especially among the B40 group,” he said.
