SUBANG JAYA, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- Asia e University (AeU) has appointed six distinguished Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Qualification (APEL.Q) Ambassadors and launched APEL.Q System 2.0 to strengthen Malaysia’s leadership in lifelong learning and experiential recognition.
The six Ambassadors are Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) president Datuk Dr Syed Hussain Syed Husman, Head of Engineering at a corporate jet maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) Dr Ir Liew Chee Leong, Eskayvie Sdn Bhd co-founder Dr Kartika Wati Mohamed, RickWorks Academy Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Dr Mohd Radziman Mohd Noor, Melaka State Tourism general manager Nasrul Ahmad, and digital architect Syaiful Bakhtiar Samsudin.
AeU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Noor Raihan Ab Hamid said APEL.Q is more than an academic pathway, describing it as recognition of the lifelong contributions of professionals to industries, communities, and the nation.
“With six new Ambassadors, the launch of APEL.Q System 2.0, and the expansion of programmes including our new Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design pilot, AeU continues to champion lifelong learning and innovation, positioning Malaysia as a global reference point for experiential recognition,” she said when officiating the event.
According to AeU, APEL.Q System 2.0 is an upgraded digital platform that enhances transparency and streamlines processes for candidates.
Dr Syed Hussain said the importance of lifelong learning motivated him to pursue his qualification through the APEL.Q pathway.
“Technology changes, the way we work changes, and to remain relevant we must keep educating ourselves. APEL.Q offers flexibility and recognises the value of professional experience, making the qualification richer than a purely academic route,” he said.
The university has also received approval from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) to offer eight programmes via APEL.Q, placing it among the institutions with the highest number of such offerings in Malaysia.
Noor Raihan said the APEL.Q Doctorate (DBA) programme is particularly unique as it empowers established professionals to transform decades of practice, leadership, and innovation into formally recognised academic research.
“It allows them to document their legacies, transform professional experience into academic references, and leave behind an enduring body of knowledge that will inspire and guide future generations,” she added.
To date, AeU has produced four cohorts of APEL.Q doctorate holders who have set benchmarks for methodology, standards, and practices in this specialised field, supported by assessors who ensure quality and credibility.
The event also recognised the contribution of assessors whose expertise safeguards the integrity of the APEL.Q process, further cementing AeU’s role as a pioneer of lifelong learning and innovation in Malaysia and beyond.
