SEPANG, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The Home Ministry (KDN) has launched the Intelligence Tashih Al-Qur’an (iTAQ) intelligent Quran verification system, which is based on AI technology to expedite the process of checking the accuracy of Quran printing and publication.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said the system, led by Lembaga Pengawalan dan Pelesenan Pencetakan Al-Quran (LPPPQ), will strengthen Quran preservation measures in line with increasingly complex contemporary challenges.
He said that in implementing innovations such as the iTAQ system, LPPPQ does not neglect its responsibility in ensuring the authenticity of Quranic text and compliance with Islamic laws.
“The board plays a role in safeguarding the sanctity of the Quran. It is not an obstacle to progress, but a filter against any harm that could compromise the accuracy of recitation and understanding of the Quran among Muslims,” he said at the Multaqa MADANI programme with LPPPQ and its committees here today.
In addition to the iTAQ system, the ministry also launched the Professionalism Module for Quran Verification Panels (ProQuran), aimed at enhancing the quality of Quran consultants appointed by the printing and publishing industry.
Meanwhile, Shamsul Anuar said the authorities had seized more than 53,000 various Quranic texts and materials found to be in violation of the Printing of Quranic Texts Act 1986 (Act 326), for the period between January and September this year, with 295 investigation papers opened.
He said that in the month of Ramadan alone, 201 investigation papers were opened.
“For Ops Mulia held in conjunction with this year’s Ramadan from March 7 to March 26, enforcement action resulted in fines totalling RM957,762.10,” he added.
