KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- Baise will host the 2025 Guangxi Cultural and Tourism Development Conference at the end of November, extending an invitation to domestic and international visitors to experience the city’s diverse natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
Located in western Guangxi and bordering Vietnam, Baise is known for its blend of mountains, rivers and multi-ethnic traditions, with geological formations such as sinkholes, canyons, waterfalls and lakes contributing to its scenic appeal, according to a statement.
The city is home to world-class karst landforms, including the Leye Dashiwei Sinkhole Group, dubbed the “World Sinkhole Museum”. Visitors can view the sinkholes from the Yunhai Tianzhou Glass Observation Deck or take part in cliff camping experiences atop the mountains.
Another highlight is the Tongling Grand Canyon, a 3.8-kilometre underground landscape featuring the 188-metre-high Tongling Grand Waterfall. Meanwhile, Lingyun Haokun Lake offers cycling trails, boat rides and stand-up paddleboarding, complemented by nearby attractions such as Chengbi Lake, Sandieling Waterfall and Goose Spring.
Baise’s cultural diversity is reflected in its Zhuang, Han, Yao and Miao communities, whose traditions span music, dance, folk arts and craftsmanship. Festivals such as the Zhuang “March third” Song Festival, the Miao Tiaopo Festival and the Yi Torch Festival draw both residents and tourists.
Jingxi, known as the “Hometown of Chinese Embroidery Balls”, continues to promote Zhuang culture globally. More than 300 handcrafted embroidery balls were presented to international cyclists at the Tour of Guangxi Road Cycling World Tour in October 2025.
Border-themed tourism also plays a significant role in Baise’s appeal. In Napo, the Black-Clothes Zhuang community showcases distinctive attire and customs, while the Pony Kingdom Scenic Area in Debao County offers a family-friendly attraction centred on the locally bred Debao pony.
At border trade markets, including Jingxi Longbang Port and Napo Pingmeng Port, tourists can purchase Vietnamese products such as coffee and cashew nuts. With a border tourism pass, visitors can also cross into Vietnam to enjoy local tea culture and explore historic streets.
Within Baise city, the landscape is characterised by “half mountains and half water”, with the Youjiang riverside offering a scenic route for leisurely walks. As night falls, Baise Night Market comes alive with local delicacies such as rice rolls, stir-fried rice worms and locust flower jelly. The city, known as the “Hometown of Chinese Mangoes”, is also famed for its aromatic mango varieties.
