PUTRAJAYA, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) has completed an investigation into a complaint of unlawful disposal of scheduled substances in Bukit Pelandok, Negeri Sembilan, involving the Department of Environment (DOE).
Following the investigation, the EAIC has decided to refer its findings and recommendations to the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar; DOE Director-General Datuk Wan Abdul Latiff Wan Jaffar; the Public Service Department; and the DOE Disciplinary Authority for appropriate disciplinary action against the officers involved.
“The results of this investigation will also be forwarded to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and made public,” the EAIC said in a statement today.
In December 2024, the media reported on an illegal waste disposal site in Bukit Pelandok. The investigation later confirmed that two locations, situated about 200 metres apart, had been used as illegal dumping sites.
About 800 barrels and intermediate bulk containers (IBC), believed to contain illegally disposed chemical waste, were found at both locations.
Based on the results of the analysis of waste samples obtained from the Malaysian Department of Chemistry, it was found that the illegally disposed waste is suspected to consist of liquids containing used solvent compounds (SW322) as well as solid materials and containers contaminated with chemicals and scheduled waste (SW409).
