WAKAF PPZ REBRANDED AS WAKAF WILAYAH PERSEKUTUAN

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council’s Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) today rebranded its Wakaf PPZ as Wakaf Wilayah Persekutuan (Federal Territories Waqf), signalling a broader and more inclusive vision for waqf (endowment) development.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, said His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, consented to the rebranding on Sept 5.

He said that although waqf collection performance has been impressive, PPZ-MAIWP recognised that its current identity often confuses the public, as the name Wakaf PPZ is more closely associated with zakat (tithe) collection.

“The rebranding…is a strategic move to ensure that waqf management is easily recognised, its functions clearly understood, and accessible to all segments of society,” he said at the ceremony to unveil the rebranding and the handover of cash waqf funds here today.

The rebranding includes a new logo and colour scheme, a switch to the official portal at www.wakafwilayah.com.my, the standardisation of its name across all social media platforms, and strengthened digital channels to make it easier for endowers to carry out transactions.

Meanwhile, Mohd Na’im said that since PPZ-MAIWP was given the mandate to collect cash waqf funds in December 2022, both collections and the number of endowers have continued to show impressive growth.

He said a total of RM7.909 million in cash waqf had been collected from 11,121 contributors between January and November this year alone.

Mohd Na’im said 11 waqf projects had reached their fundraising targets, but 35 projects still require an estimated RM413 million in waqf funds.

At the event, 12 corporations also contributed a total of RM657,508.31 waqf funds to Wakaf  Wilayah Persekutuan.
