PTNJ-OCIS EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES TOWARDS PRODUCING DYNAMIC YOUNG OFFICERS

12/12/2025 11:19 PM

JOHOR BAHRU, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- The Johor State Civil Service (PTNJ) and the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) are exploring opportunities for collaboration to create a special programme aimed at enhancing PTNJ's knowledge and capacity in providing services to the public.

According to a post uploaded on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page, the collaboration proposed by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, is aimed at training and producing more dynamic and capable young officers, in line with the Johor government's desire to continuously improve the capabilities of the PTNJ.

It said that the collaboration programme would enhance knowledge about decision-making practices in government, such as in Whitehall, which is the administrative centre of the English (UK) government.

“History shows that many aspects of our administrative system were adapted from the United Kingdom.

"This knowledge will open eyes and help the JCS (Johor Civil Service) in formulating and providing better public services for the people," Her Majesty said to the Royal Press Office (RPO).

Raja Zarith Sofiah said this after visiting the OCIS in Oxford, UK, yesterday (Dec 11). OCIS director Dr. Farhan Ahmad Nizami was on hand to receive Her Majesty.

Her Majesty also mentioned the involvement of Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) administrative officers to participate alongside JCS colleagues in a joint programme with the OCIS for the same purpose.

"This is also important and beneficial for the officers concerned because the OCIS emphasises the application of Islamic knowledge in various disciplinary fields such as economics, international development and history," said Raja Zarith.

The OCIS was established in 1985 as an institution conducting advanced studies on Islam and the Islamic world.

The administration of this centre is managed by a Board of Trustees comprising scholars and statesmen from around the world, and the vice chair of this board is the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah.
