KANGAR, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- The 504th Regiment of the Territorial Army is offering education-based outdoor training and character-building initiatives centered at the Bukit Keteri Camp, featuring two core modules: 'Survival Training' and the 'Self-Identity Camp'
In a statement released by the Istana Arau today, it was noted that these outdoor initiatives are specifically targeted at school students as physical and mental preparation for life's challenges.
The statement detailed that the training includes: Identifying water sources, Selecting natural materials for rope-making, Knot-tying skills and shelter construction, Navigation techniques using compasses and natural indicators, Basic first aid and safe movement in hilly terrain, Risk management regarding venomous animals, including identification and emergency response to bites or stings.
This information was shared by the Deputy Commander of the 504th Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Lasahi Laiji, during the recent promotional launch of the 'Survival Skills Training' and 'Self-Identity Camp' for 2026 at the camp.
The launch was officiated by the children of the Raja Muda of Perlis (who is also the Commander of the regiment, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail): Syed Sirajuddin Areeb Putra Al-Haj Jamalullail (the Second Heir to the State of Perlis), Hajah Sharifah Khatreena Nuraniah Jamalullail, and Hajah Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail.
According to the statement, a total of 3,276 students from 42 schools participated in the training throughout 2024, while 780 students from seven schools took part last year to build character and prepare for real-world challenges.
During the event, the three royal siblings received briefings from officers and members of the 504th Regiment and personally tried the training techniques taught as preparation for self-assistance during emergencies.
