IPOH, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- The zakat fitrah rates in Perak for 1447H/2026M have been set at RM10, RM16 and RM25 per person, based on the type of rice consumed.

Perak Deputy Mufti Datuk Zamri Hashim said the mandatory rate of RM10 applies to individuals who consume local super special rice and super imported rice.

“The encouraged rate of RM16 is for those who consume brown rice, fragrant rice, ponni rice and parboiled rice, while the optional rate of RM25 applies to consumers of basmati rice, glutinous rice, Japanese rice and red rice,” he said when announcing the zakat fitrah rates here today.

"However, the optional or encouraged rate of RM16 is for users of brown rice, fragrant rice, ponni herbs and boiled rice, while the optional rate of RM25 is for users of basmati rice, glutinous rice, Japanese rice and red rice," he said when announcing the zakat fitrah rates here today.

Also present were  Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) chief executive officer Syamsul Hazeman Md Salleh and Perak Zakat Al Ridzuan (ZAPAR) general manager Ahmad Nazim Md Tajuri.

Last year, the zakat fitrah rates in Perak were set at RM10, RM16 and RM27, based on the type of rice consumed.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Nazim said MAIPk, through ZAPAR, has appointed 1,735 Assistant Amil Fitrah or official tithe collectors,  to facilitate the collection of zakat fitrah this year, compared with about 1,900 last year.

The public has been reminded to perform their zakat fitrah obligation only through certified Assistant Amil Fitrah appointed by ZAPAR.

To facilitate payment transactions, ZAPAR also provides an online zakat fitrah payment channel through the MAIPk Bestari application and portal by visiting https://bestari.maipk.gov.my or ezakat.maipk.gov.my, including Internet banking, e-wallets such as Grab, Shopee and other digital platforms.

“Last year was the first year we implemented the application. This year, we will further enhance it via mobile phone access and the website.

“Last year’s data showed that out of the RM15.2 million in zakat fitrah collected, about half was paid online,” he said.
