PUTRAJAYA, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia today dispatched 40,000 copies of the Quran with translations to Washington in the United States, as well as to the Ivory Coast and Ghana, reflecting the country’s continued commitment to promoting Islamic values and Quranic knowledge globally.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hassan said the shipment was carried out through the Nasyrul Quran Complex in collaboration with the Restu Foundation and waqf donors.
He said the initiative is part of the One Million Quran Endowment Solidarity project, inspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, aimed at distributing translated copies of the Quran in various languages worldwide.
“This delivery of the Quran is not merely a logistical exercise, but a mission of dakwah and humanity.
“It symbolises Malaysia’s role as a strategic partner in strengthening the understanding of Islam as a religion of mercy for all,” he said at the launch of the shipment of two containers of the Quran to the three countries here today.
Zulkifli added that to date, Malaysia has distributed Quran translations in various languages to more than 40 countries.
Meanwhile, Restu Foundation executive chairman Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Mirasa said the shipment reflects the foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting Malaysia’s aspiration to become an international hub for the printing, translation and distribution of the Quran.
“This delivery brings the total number of copies distributed through various agencies and organisations to 553,966,” he said.
The shipment comprised 20,000 copies of the Quran with English, Spanish, European, and Spanish Latin translations for the United States (Washington), and another 20,000 copies in French and English for distribution in the Ivory Coast and Ghana.
