TAIPING, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- The Department of Community Communications (J-KOM) has allocated RM100,000 to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tengku Menteri in Changkat Jering near here, benefiting 553 students after the school was selected for the MADANI Adopted School Project in Perak.
J-KOM director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop said the programme is a strategic initiative inspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to strengthen social and economic development at the grassroots level, particularly through educational institutions.
“Through this approach, the government aims to empower school communities holistically, not only in academic achievement but also in welfare, physical facilities, skills development and students’ readiness to face future challenges,” he said at the launch and handover ceremony of the J-KOM MADANI Adopted School Project here today.
Ismail said the collaboration reflects the government’s commitment to developing schools as education hubs in rural communities, while narrowing gaps in facilities and access between urban and rural areas.
He said the RM100,000 allocation covers four main components planned in a comprehensive and targeted manner.
“The first component involves digital equipment, with an allocation of RM43,500, including facilities such as an LCD projector, a mobile Smart TV, laser printers and a 3D printer,” he said.
He added that the second component involves support facilities with an allocation of RM39,222, followed by sports equipment (RM13,178) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) development (RM4,100).
Ismail said the success of the MADANI Adopted School Programme should not be measured solely by the handover of equipment, but by how the facilities are utilised effectively, well-maintained and used continuously for the benefit of future generations.
