IPOH, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has allocated nearly RM2.1 million to carry out repair works on a public market, recreational park and food court in Jelapang here, as well as drainage and sewerage systems in Pusing, Batu Gajah.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the allocation, to be channelled through the Department of Local Government (JKT), is also meant to upgrade public facilities to improve the people’s quality of life.
He said the breakdown for Jelapang alone involves RM1 million for the Jelapang Public Market, RM450,000 for Taman MADANI, RM428,000 for Medan Selera MADANI, while RM200,000 is for drainage and sewerage systems in Pusing, Batu Gajah.
“Tonight we come with a special caring touch from the MADANI Government, (nearly) RM2.1 million has been approved and work will start this year and be completed this year as well!” he said at the Jelapang state constituency Chinese New Year celebration here tonight.
Also present were Batu Gajah Member of Parliament Dr V. Sivakumar and Jelapang assemblyman Cheah Pou Hian.
Meanwhile, KPKT in a statement said the ministry will continue to prioritise the maintenance and upgrading of public facilities, particularly markets, recreational parks and food courts that serve as the lifeblood of local communities.
