FORMER BANTING ASSEMBLYWOMAN FATIMAH SUHAIMI DIES OF OLD AGE TODAY

SHAH ALAM, Feb 25  (Bernama) -- Former Banting  Assemblywoman Datin Fatimah Suhaimi, 84, died at 4 am today at Columbia Asia Puchong of old age.

This was confirmed by her son, Mohd Zyad Jaafar, 42, when contacted by Bernama today.

According to Zyad, his mother was admitted to the hospital last Wednesday after her health deteriorated and received treatment for a week before she breathed her last early today.

Zyad, the third of four siblings, said his mother had also previously suffered from lung infection and kidney failure.

“Her remains are currently at the family home in Kampung Medan, Telok Panglima Garang and will be taken to the Jamiul Islamiah Mosque for the funeral rites. The burial will be at the Kampung Medan Islamic Cemetery before the Zuhor prayer today,” he said.

Fatimah left behind four children, three boys and one girl, as well as four grandchildren.

She was the Banting assemblywoman for three terms from 1982 and had held several important positions in UMNO, including the Kuala Langat Wanita UMNO division head.
